Final Project with Web Page

The final project consists of the creation of a Web Page which is fairly simple to do using one of the  following Web Site Builders --- some are free for a trial bases and others stay free:
http://www.webs.com/
http://www.bluevoda.net/
http://www.virtualmechanics.com/
http://www.homestead.com/ (30 day trial)

Give your eyes a rest as there are no photocopies for this project.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since we are nearing the end of this course, let me just remind you that the Final Project is due on Nov 30th.
I am now going to change a bit of the grading break-down which is in your course syllabus, so take note of these changes. This last work is worth 30%:

Final  Project is 30% of your grade:
  • Create your own Web Site using one of the URL sites listed above. Leave a comment attached to this Post on where your classmates and I may go to see your Web Site  Include data for at least 4 of the following page items below within your Web Site and add your PowerPoint Resume Presentation in one of them as well as the Mind Map (I will explain the mind map this coming Friday, November 1st) which should be located on the Home Page:  (5%)
    • Home
    • News
    • Calendar of Events
    • Assignments & Handouts
    • Resources
    • Photo Gallery
    • Videos
    • Your own creation/choice
  • Creative Mind Map illustrating your "umbrella topic" and the elements of your final project and how they interconnect to one another, i.e. using cars, planes, trains bikes etc for the Transportation topic. The Mind Map should again be placed on your home page and should also be explained there either in a written format or by the use of VoiceThread. (2%)
  • Your Web Site content should be created for the specific group and "umbrella" topic(s) you have based all of the other projects on. (1%)
  • Be creative and original in your content using English correctly throughout. (1%)
  • Give an overview of the grade level and "umbrella" topic(s) (1%)
  • State at least 5 General Objectives (English Lang. Skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Culture) and 7 Specific Objectives for each of the mini projects: word processing, go animate, wiki, WebQuest, blog VoiceThread, and podcasting (1%)
  • The theoretical framework: Give a written explanation on what Method/Teaching Approach you are using and why (1%). Include 4 detailed lesson plans which uses Lorin Anderson's revised Bloom's categories and verbs, being sure to go down the categories from top to bottom in which a lesson plan covers at least four categories. Within these lesson plans, each of the mini projects are present except for the PowerPoint Presentation.  (6%; 1.5% for each lesson plan) Integrate your other mini projects with the Web Page by creating links or putting it within the Web Page itself (2%)

  • Make use of  the other mini projects by guiding your students in completing each task using the Web Page as a means of instructing / guiding said pupils: (7%)
    • Word Processing
    • YouTube Video
    • Blogs
    • Webquest
    • Wiki
    • VoiceThread
    • Podcast
  • 2% is for the Oral Presentation in which EACH group member represents their company (the presenting group) who help educators expand their teaching with CALL and Blended Leaning which ultimately improves communication between students and their instructor(s).
    • Speaker is able to effectively explain how their part of the project helps students increase their learning potential not only through CALL and Blended Learning but through the theoretical framework as well. This company explanation is clear with no ambiguities which help educators expand their teaching repertoire. Each group member is to explain a section which does not repeat what another group presenter has already explained. Each member should give an oral presentation of at least 5 min in length but not exceeding 10 min. (1%)
    • Speaker uses the English language effectively so that their part of the presentation is articulate in which correct pronunciation and grammatical structures are used appropriately when clearly explaining the project content. (1%)
  • The Final 1% is to be present from 1:15 pm till each and every group has presented. During which time, EACH person is to be AVIDLY attentive to the presentations. CELL PHONES are to be turned off, as per UCR regulations, and  placed  into one's purse or bookbag. At the end of each presentation, you are able to give useful feedback which shows your attention to the presentations. (1%)
  • NOTE: Final Projects which are not presented by November 29th must use their Bonus in order to present the following week. A final project will only be graded if it was presented with an oral presentation as stated above. Any member who is not present for the presentation, without a medical excuse from the UCR or hospital, will lose the 30% final project grade.
I hope this newly updated breakdown, covers the faults you found within the percentage breakdown. Please note that this course syllabus is tentative as stated in the header, due to it being a Process Syllabus using the Progressivism Process Model Curriculum . If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on Facebook messenger or during my office hours next week.
